UFC 91: Randy Couture vs Brock Lesnar

This November 15, 2008 (Sunday here in the Philippines), Randy “The Natural” Couture returns to the Octagon after a 13-month hiatus. He will face former WWE champion Brock Lesnar. Randy is coming into this fight as an underdog even though he is the heavyweight champion before he temporarily left the UFC due to its failure to sign Fedor Emelianenko. When I saw the fight poster, man, that’s where I saw the discrepancy. Brock is HUGE!

I have not yet seen Lesnar fight because he is new at UFC and with a record of 1-1, I wonder why he is already given the chance to fight the Hall of Famer Couture. All I know is that he was a former professional wrestler and he just entered the world of mixed-martial arts last year.

This fight is billed as “The Biggest Fight in UFC History!” The winner will go on to fight the winner of UFC 92’s Antonio Nogueira vs Frank Mir bout for the Undisputed UFC Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar might be bigger, stronger and younger but Couture is very experienced and intelligent and he has proven time and again that he can defeat opponents critics said he didn’t have a chance against. He is not a five-time UFC champion for nothing.

My forecast?

Randy Couture by Unanimous Decision.
