The Boston Celtics Championship Ring
October 30, 2008NBA players surely are a pampered breed. They get million-dollar contracts, are very popular and living the high life. And when they do bag the ultimate goal which is to win a championship, they are given a bling-bling which makes us drool.
The Boston Celtics opened the 2008-09 NBA Season with a pregame ceremony to receive their championship rings from NBA Commissioner David Stern prior to their first game of the season against King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. If you’re hiding in a cave the past few months (or simply don’t care), they earned their blings by defeating Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers in the last NBA Finals. And what a bling it is!
2008-09 NBA Season Starts Today!
October 29, 2008I’m already excited.
Of course, after the Celtics dismantled the Lakers in the last NBA Finals, the big question is: can Boston’s three-header monster of Garnett, Pierce and Allen continue their onslaught this season?
Videoke Session at World Palace KTV Bar
October 25, 2008
My teammates at work are based at three offices, Cotabato City (where I am based), Zamboanga City and Davao City (our main office). We seldom meet; our correspondence is always through call, text message or email so whenever we have a team meeting, we go out at night to have “bonding-bonding” and relieve ourselves from the stress brought by work.
FLASHBACK: If I remember correctly, the last time we had fun was during the stag party they gave me before my wedding last December 6, 2007 at Marco Polo Hotel. Okay, it was not really a stag party per se, as women are supposed to be not allowed but it was a party nonetheless!
Practice Drive to Baras Bird Sanctuary
October 13, 2008We were at Tacurong City last October 1 doing some field work. Since we finished our work early and we have nothing better to do, I asked my companion to teach me how to drive a four-wheel vehicle. Yes, I still don’t know how to drive one. Well, I never got the chance to learn since we don’t own any car. And it’s my thinking that when I have already bought one, learning how to drive would not be a difficult thing to do.
But that day, I must have felt so bored that I asked Romeo to teach me. We don’t know any open and wide space in Tacurong City where we can practice so I suggested the road going to the Baras Bird Sanctuary located at Bgy. Baras. The dirt road going there is straight and wide and there are few vehicles plying that route, just perfect. I’m good at playing racing video games that dot the video game arcade centers at NCCC Mall, Davao so it’s no wonder that I did not have any difficulty driving for the first time. If the road is straight and wide that is! I had a difficult time steering the curved and narrow road entering the bird sanctuary so I let Romeo do it for me.
Joke Time: The Colonel and the Horse
October 9, 2008I heard this joke this morning from Deo Macalma during his morning show with Ruth Abao, “Hataw” at DZRH. I find it very funny.
Isang sundalong coronel ang naassign sa isang kampo na nasa liblib na lugar. Sa kanyang paglilibot, nakita niya na may kabayo’ng nakatali sa likod ng barracks. Tinanong niya tungkol dito ang isang sundalo.
(One army colonel is stationed at a very remote camp. During his orientation tour, he saw a horse tied out behind the barracks. He asked one soldier about it.
Our Wedding Chronicles: Pamanhikan
October 7, 2008NOTE: I’m making a series of blogs narrating the events last year that led to our wedding on December 22, 2007. I’m making this to share to others and for me and my wife to always remember how we became hitched to each other. This is the first blog in the series.
It was exactly one year today when together with my father and siblings, we went to Wendy’s place to meet her family and for me to officially ask permission from her parents that I am going to marry their daughter. In Filipino lingo, we were there for the “pamanhikan”.
